Congratulation you just made it to the first hiring process; 1st interview stage! As the market is very competitive, you will need to impress and stand out from the others. You know you are the best for this role, but how do you make sure you can demonstrate this during the interview?

Follow these simple steps:

1. Research the company

Know your audience, what does it mean? You need to get a sense of who is the company by reading about their products, services, recent accomplishments or projects, latest news, acquisitions. Also, research the people who will be interviewing you, their position, and background.

2. Know your resume inside and out

It may seem obvious, however, make sure you remember where you worked and the tasks you handle at that time at that specific company. Be ready to provide details about your past work experiences. You may be asked about your past positions, the key aspects, and tasks of the role, and how it is relevant to the job you are interviewing for.

3. Do a practice interview

By practicing different scenarios, and the type of questions you might realize that some of your responses are weaker than others. This is the chance to do research and better prepared on how to answer them.

Review some of the most common questions:

  • Tell me about yourself?

  • What do you know about our company?

  • Why do you think you could be a good fit for this role?

  • What is your biggest weakness?

  • Tell me more about your work experience at your previous company?

  • Why did you leave your last company?

  • Where would you see yourself in 5 years?

  • What are your strengths?

4. Have a List of Questions Ready

At the end of each interview, your interviewer will likely ask you if you have any questions for them. This is the time for you to ask relevant questions about the positions, responsibilities, work culture, company vision etc. Prepare your questions in advance, and make sure it is relevant to the position you are applying.
